Why 2019 Lok-sabha Election was an unprecedented event in democratic India's history

India stepped in the 72nd year of its independent history in 2019  and people went out to vote for 17th term of Lok Sabha we witnessed a swift victory for the current ruling party almost replaying the gigantic mandate of 2014, While the Bhartiya Janta Party is all set to repeat its position in power headed by Narendra Modi as Prime Minister there are a few things in this election that make them an exception in Indian history.

The fact can't be denied that this election witnessed a lack of ground issues, especially from the ruling party and non-issues were made issues.

We as voters were offered very little choice it was portrayed to us that there is no option other than the current prime minister,  and no man can handle this country. This is something not new to us we've come across a similar situation In Jawahar Lal Nehru's time when after his death there was this Question "Who after Nehru?" and a second time during the black era of Indian democracy when the emergency was imposed under Indira Gandhi then also this question was presented to Indian voters "If not Indra, then who?' But it was Indian voter who answered this question subtly and intellectually but seems to have failed this time.

This article is not against BJP in any sort but there are a few things that we've seen happening but prefer to remain silent about.

Anyone who doesn't admit that there is a great threat to constitutionally granted "Freedom of Speech and Expression" is ignorant or a fool.

We as a country have always been proud of and celebrated our differences and diversities, Even in Times of Independence there was a difference of opinion among different leaders of the movement everyone had their own ideas yet all were right in their places and were true patriots no-one at the time was against each other although this doesn't seem to the case anymore now if you are against a certain ideology you are easily labeled as "Anti-national" or against the country.
Social media which used to be a platform of expression is now a place to spill out hatred and sadly such hate-mongers are followed by famous politicians you know who I'm talking about.

Not only this even the writers and journalists even though a little fraction of them who still dares to ask questions and raise voices are threatened and terrorized, you might not know this but there has been the number of murders of journalists after 2014 in its history.
In a country which has been a land of free thinkers and this is not great signs.

with all these citizens' security, economic & job crisis, demonetization, the farmer's conditions over the past years it's shocking how people are still blindfolded by hateful propaganda.

Let's not talk about any party for a while and see that in a thoughtful and intellectual country like India isn't it out of the blue that candidates like hate monger Giriraj Singh, accused terrorist and incendiary Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, criminal-empathizing Jayant Sinha and Sakshi Maharaj won while educationist Atishi Marlena, Social thinker Kanhaiya Kumar, etc. Lost isn't this against the very Spirit of India and the idea that flourished in the minds and hearts of Gandhi, Nehru and Sardar Patel.

We are witnessing a rise in the attacks and skirmishes on people by extremists since the mandate of the Lok Sabha election this is a clear prefiguration of in What direction we are moving at a high pace.

Social media protests; and their impact

An article by Ehsan Siddiqui  25th May 2020, in Minneapolis of Minnesota state in the USA a negro-man named George Floyd became prey to the history of police brutality and racial discrimination in the country. A policeman was captured on video pressing his knee against Floyd's neck who was laying on the ground motionless for a duration of around 9 minutes. the last words of the dying man on the ground "I Can't Breathe" sparked a worldwide movement against the oppression on racial grounds, hundreds of thousands of people took to streets of not only America but a number of other countries as well. A fall into Abyss: India's growing love affair with extremism

Sadhvi Pragya, a member of parliament from Bhopal, while ago in a media interaction said Nathuram Godse; the man who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi was a patriot. This ignited a huge nationwide controversy causing the Prime minister to say that he'll never be able to forgive Pragya. Despite this, every day we hear influential leaders from political parties having their share of ridiculous and absurd statements. Is this just the meaningless blabber of extremist leaders or is something dangerous? The new normal What if I had told you a couple of decades ago that in this very country, the killing of Mahatma Gandhi will be celebrated, or a union minister would honor the murder accused with garlands, or someone with terrorism charges will become a member of parliament? All this would have seemed a little too far-fetched but as of now all the aforementioned has already happened and most of the nation's population appears to be fine with it.  Today you hear political l...
